Get To Know Us

At Kings Ridge we provide Bible classes for all ages. On Sunday morning, our classes meet at 10:00 AM between our two worship assemblies. On Wednesday evenings our classes are followed by a brief assembly in the auditorium, which will include singing, prayer and a short lesson from the Bible.

Our worship assemblies on the Lord’s Day include the singing of spiritual songs, congregational prayers, the serving of the Lord’s Supper to all Christians, study from God’s word, and a collection for the work of the church at Kings Ridge. Since we consider the collection to be a responsibility of our members, our visitors should feel no obligation to contribute anything other than their attention.

You may also notice the spiritual focus of our services. We assemble as a church to build up the inner man, not to entertain. We don’t offer you a calendar of social activities as we leave hospitality and recreation to the home, not the church. Our services are designed for spiritual edification and enlightenment rather than entertainment. We’re here for the primary purpose of helping men get to heaven. If we can help you and your family in that endeavor, we would welcome the opportunity to visit with you.

Our Mission

No news is more important to all men than the “good news” of Jesus Christ. In his account of the life of Jesus, the Apostle John tells us “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” (Jn. 20:31) Peter, speaking about Jesus, proclaimed in Acts 4:12 “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Jesus Himself declared “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (Jn. 14:6)

Paul writes that the gospel, which means good news, is “the power of God to salvation.” (Rom 1:16) It is for that reason that we concentrate our energies on sharing that good news, both here in Lubbock and in other cities and countries throughout the world.

Philip told Nathaniel, “We have found him, of whom Moses in the law; and also the prophets, wrote - Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” To Philip this was a marvel worth sharing and so he said, “Come and see.” (Jn. 1:43-46) That God would reveal Himself through His Son Jesus Christ and allow Him to pay the price for our sins is still a marvel to us. If you would like to learn more about God’s will for your life, we ask you to “Come and see!”

Our Plea

We accept the Bible as the word of God -- “...no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” (2 Pet. 1:20-21). Paul wrote that “every scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Tim. 3:16). Therefore, the Bible is not just a good book written by good men as some claim. It is “the revelation of Jesus Christ” (Gal. 1:11-12).

Since “it is not in man who walks to direct his steps” (Jer. 10:23), we trust the Bible to provide answers to life’s questions. You will find that every sermon and every Bible class here at Kings Ridge is based on the Bible. We strive to do as the Apostle Peter instructs in 1 Pet. 4:11 -- “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.”

If you have any questions, we invite you to sit down and study the Bible with us. But don’t be surprised when we turn to a passage in your Bible and let you read the answer for yourself. We are convinced that we can agree about what God says concerning salvation, the church, the family, worship and morality.

Just Christians

If you ask us, “What kind of Christians?” we will answer, “We are just Christians.” We have no creed, fashioned by men, to unite us. There is no governing body or headquarters to which we answer. We are simply Christians.

We wear the name of Christ because it is Christ that we serve. We seek to follow His word, the Bible, as the only authority for our doctrine and practice. The Bible only we have found makes Christians only. So naturally we are not some brand of Christian. We are just Christians.

We are saddened by what has happened in the religious world as a result of the creeds that men have adopted and the councils they have formed. Many of us were once a part of a denomination, the product of religious creeds and councils. But we have left that all behind and decided to get back to the Bible. The creeds that men have written divide people. The councils that men have organized do the same. The Bible however unites people. Surely God who created man and his mind can write a book that men can understand alike. Don’t you think He can? We believe He has done just that in the Bible.

Now you may have heard, like we often have, that “you can prove anything with the Bible.” But before you decide that the idea of understanding the Bible alike is an impossible task, be honest. Have you really read the Bible to know for yourself whether or not we can be united on its contents?

So give us a chance. Sit down and study the Bible with us. We’re just ordinary folks who want to go to heaven. We won’t pressure you. We won’t use any embarrassing tactics. We just want to share with you the good news of what God has done for us and how you too can be just a Christian!
